About Therapy
Why Therapy?
People seek therapy for many different reasons. Sometimes, it’s to process a life-altering event; other times, it’s to reflect more deeply on past or present experiences. Therapy provides a space to make sense of what has happened, heal from trauma, and gain a deeper understanding of oneself. Whether you’re navigating a difficult transition, recovering from emotional wounds, or simply seeking clarity, therapy can support you in finding balance and resilience.
The Art in Art Therapy
I take an inclusive and flexible approach to creativity, recognising that art extends beyond traditional forms like painting and drawing. Creativity can be found in conversation, storytelling, poetry, photography, found objects, or simply observing the world around us. In my therapy sessions, I provide a supportive space where clients can explore various artistic methods—whether through journaling, drawing, collage, or digital tools—without the expectation of creating finished work. The focus is on the process itself, encouraging exploration, play, and personal expression. Clients are also invited to continue their creative journey between sessions, sharing their work and experiences for ongoing reflection and insight.
My Approach
Collaborative & Trauma-Informed – Our work is shaped by what feels most useful to you. I prioritise safety, trust, choice, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural awareness.
Attuned & Relational – I aim to truly understand you, not just through words but through the unspoken too, creating a space where you feel seen and heard.
Flexible & Client-Led – Whether you prefer more guidance or an open-ended approach, we will find a way of working that suits you best.
Integrating Body & Mind – I integrate somatic practices to support nervous system regulation, recognising the connection between body and mind in healing.
A Safe & Supportive Space – Therapy should feel steady and manageable. I work with care to ensure you feel safe enough to explore whatever you bring.
Art as Expression – Creativity can offer a way to process emotions when words feel out of reach, helping to uncover deeper understanding and insight.
Empowering & Strength-Based – My approach is about supporting you in reconnecting with your sense of safety, trust, and agency in your own healing.
About Attunement
Do you know what it feels like to be genuinely understood—not just heard, but truly seen and felt? This is the heart of attunement, and it’s something I prioritise in every therapy session.
Attunement involves being fully present with you—noticing your words, your tone, your body language, and the pauses in between. Often, what matters most is unspoken, and I strive to tune into those moments to offer you understanding and support.
This kind of connection is essential in therapy. It creates a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your feelings and experiences. Feeling safe and supported makes it easier to open up and engage in the work of healing and growth.
In my practice, I am committed to meeting you exactly where you are. Whether you need space to quietly reflect or support in facing challenging emotions, I will be there to walk with you at your own pace.
Art therapy can be a powerful way to deepen this connection. When words fall short, art can give voice to feelings and experiences that are difficult to express. Together, we can explore your creative work to uncover insights and emotions, helping you feel deeply seen and understood.
Attunement is also central to trauma-informed practice. Trauma often disrupts our sense of safety and connection. By staying attuned to your emotional state, I can help you navigate overwhelming emotions in a way that feels safe and supportive, empowering you to rebuild trust in yourself and others.
For some, feeling truly attuned to can be overwhelming—especially if it’s unfamiliar or uncomfortable. If this arises, we will explore these feelings gently, ensuring that our work together feels safe and manageable for you.
Experiencing this level of understanding can be profoundly healing. If you have felt unseen or misunderstood in the past, therapy can offer a new, more nurturing experience of connection. Together, we can create a therapeutic relationship built on safety, trust, and genuine understanding.
Attunement is not simply a method I use—it is the foundation of how I work. I believe that meaningful change begins within a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship. When you feel truly understood, you can begin to explore new possibilities and make meaningful changes in your life.
